ACE Sports Day 2018

1st July 2018

Tuesday 3rd July 2018 will go down in history as a great day for English football as England secured their spot in the quarter finals of the World Cup in Moscow, after their first ever penalty shootout win in a World Cup! Better still, this date will live long in the memories of our ACE family of seven schools: St Agnes, St Columb Minor, St Columb Major, St Kew, Charlestown, Beacon and Upton Cross. Over 100 ACE children took part in our very own ACE World Cup at Enys Parc, St Agnes Football Club, which proved to be a perfect venue for our children to come together to learn new football skills in a friendly yet competitive environment.

We extended our ACE family by working with coaches from Plymouth Argyle and Go Active, and students from Richard Lander (also players and coaches from St Agnes AFC). All the ACE children demonstrated excellent attitude and skills throughout the day. It was fantastic to see all seven schools mixing together for a morning of skills sessions all wearing their brand new ACE kits kindly sponsored by Eco Boss and Cornwall Signs. With music in the background, the sun shining and 112 children all active and having fun, the day couldn’t have gone much better. The scale and spirit of the event was captured by the BBC and was aired on Spotlight. Congratulations to Charlestown (Columbia) who won the Year 2 ACE Sport Challenge Trophy and St Agnes (England), who won the Year 5 ACE Sport Challenge Trophy. With England knocking out Columbia later that evening, you’ve heard it here first, it looks like finally football is coming home to England (fingers crossed)… Well it certainly did for our ACE schools.

Well done to all those involved.
